Hot on the heels of the launch of the 2020 Charles Causley International Poetry Competition, you now have the chance to watch an exclusive interview with competition judge, Bafta-nominated, international prize-winning writer and broadcaster Lemn Sissay.

Interviewed by the Charles Causley Trust’s Eleanor Mason, Lemn shares his thoughts on poetry competitions, what makes great poetry and what he’s looking for as a judge. 

‘Your greatest competition is always yourself,’ he says, warning against the dangers of losing your own unique voice by worrying about what others want. “The market will always be there, your uniqueness is what you bring to the market.”
