Level of service
Human Resources will:
- Advise Colleges on Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) and University Procedures for new appointments and renewals for current appointments.
- Compile and process the required immigration forms/Sponsorship Management System.
Key indicators
Key indicators for this activity are:
- Successfully obtaining a CoS for the proposed appointment.
Performance targets
Subject to the Dependencies below:
- 95% of CoS checks, applications and extensions will be submitted to the Border Agency by HR within two weeks of the instruction being given to HR.
- 95% of CoS outcomes will be informed to staff and Colleges within two weeks of receipt.

Redress
Complaints about aspects of the service should be made to your College HR Business Partner in the first instance. In the event that the customer/client remains dissatisfied following informal discussion with the HR Business Partner, the issue should be raised in writing with the Director of Human Resources who will normally respond within 5 working days.
Dependencies (Colleges)
To operate effectively in this service area, Human Resources requires:
- Colleges to submit, in good time, clear and accurate authorised forms/instructions and information in line with University Procedures (including the cost code for re-charge of the CoS fee).
Dependencies (external and other Professional Services)
Human Resources goals in this area may be affected by:
- Individuals requiring CoS providing accurate validated information in a timely manner
- Administrative procedures at the UK Border Agency.
