Level of service

Human Resources will:

  • Advise Colleges on CRB requirements and University Policy and Procedures.
  • Process the required CRB forms.
  • Advise and support Colleges in cases where CRB disclosures detail previous convictions.

Key indicators

Key indicators for this activity are:

  • Where a CRB disclosure is required for an appointment under the University’s Policy, this is made clear in the further particulars and the letter of appointment
  • The CRB disclosures is requested of the individual before the appointment is confirmed.
  • Confidentiality standards are maintained.

Performance targets

Subject to the Dependencies below:

  • 95% of requests for CRB disclosures will be sent to the Criminal Records Bureau within two weeks of HR receiving all the completed documentation.
  • 95% of CRB outcomes will be informed to individuals and Colleges within two weeks of receipt.

Redress

Complaints about aspects of the service should be made to your College HR Business Partner in the first instance. In the event that the customer/client remains dissatisfied following informal discussion with the HR Business Partner, the issue should be raised in writing with the Director of Human Resources who will normally respond within 5 working days.

Dependencies (Colleges)

To operate effectively in this service area, Human Resources requires:

  • Colleges to submit, in good time, clear and accurate authorised forms/instructions (including the cost code for re-charge of the CRB fee).
  • Where a CRB disclosure is required of current staff, the College to explain the reason for the requirement to each employee and obtain their consent to a making a disclosure request.

  • The subject of the request failing to provide the necessary information in the required format.
  • Administrative procedures at the Criminal Record Bureau.
