Level of service

Human Resources will:

  • Send a letter to employees advising of any changes to their employment terms
  • Send a letter to employees confirming the dates and terms of maternity, study or other extended leave
  • Copy all letters to the appropriate College Dean/Head of Service
  • Apply any approved salary changes
  • Provide responses to external requests for information eg mortgage/renting reference, staff information requests
  • Advise individual members of staff and their rights and responsibilities under Family Friendly Policies and Procedures.

Key indicators

Key indicators for this activity are:

  • Employees are given written notification of changes to their terms and conditions of employment before they take effect.
  • The College Dean/Head of Service receives a copy of such notifications.
  • Confidentiality standards are maintained.

Performance targets

Subject to the Dependencies below:

  • 95% of authorised forms/instructions will be actioned within two weeks of receipt

Redress

Complaints about aspects of the service should be made to your College HR Business Partner in the first instance. In the event that the customer/client remains dissatisfied following informal discussion with the HR Business Partner, the issue should be raised in writing with the Director of Human Resources who will normally respond within 5 working days.

Dependencies (Colleges)

To operate effectively in this service area, Human Resources requires:

  • Colleges to submit, in good time, clear, accurate and appropriately authorised forms/instructions and information in line with University Procedures.
