Overview

Carol-lynne is the Project Manager for the Circular Economy Centre in Technology Metals (Met4Tech) led by the University of Exeter and funded by the UKRI. Carol-lynne is also leading on the policy impact activities across the five collaborating institutions (University of Exeter, the British Geological Survey, and the Universities of Leicester, Manchester, and Birmingham). The Met4Tech project will explore how to create a circular economy for the technology metals such as cobalt, rare earths and lithium, for the cycle starting from the first stages of extraction, through manufacturing and recycling to the end-of-life and recovery stages. The project will create a new Roadmap for a technology-metals circular economy centred on the UK. 

Met4Tech is one of five new Circular Economy Centres funded by the UKRI that will explore how reusing materials in different industries (textiles, construction, chemicals, metals) can provide environmental benefits and promote the UK economy. The Centres, together with a national coordinating CE Hub, will help the UK transition towards environmental sustainability and low carbon.

Career

Carol-lynne has extensive experience in the mining, metals/chemicals, and energy sectors. She has worked in both industry and academia, recently as Senior Manager - Sustainability for a global industry trade association (Cobalt Institute), and as Manager of the EU REACH consortia for the cobalt industry.

Previously Carol-lynne was a Senior Research Fellow and the Coordinator of a sustainability consortium project (PUrE - Pollutants in the Urban Environment) funded by the EPSRC and led by the University of Surrey and the University of Manchester. Carol-lynne has also worked as an Environmental Consultant on many global studies.
