 Innovation Centre Phase 2

Innovation Centre Phase 2, University of Exeter,  Rennes Drive,  Exeter,  EX4 4RN, UK

Overview

As of April 2023 I am the University of Exeter's Impact and Partnership Development Manager for AI in Society, supporting and developing projects which apply data science and AI to challenges across all subject areas and/or contribute to analysing and developing research on its impact on society.

I am also the point of first contact for the Department of Computer Science.

My role sits however firmly across all faculties and sectors and has a strong focus on supporting interdisciplinary networks and project teams. One of my remits is helping to connect businesses with the right research expertise to support their innovation needs, and develop research commercialisation, collaborative research opportunities with external partners, and the non-academic impact of Exeter’s research.

My personal background lies in political economy, philosophy and financial crime, but I have also extended experience in working with and for the European Union, both around developing policies and managing multi-national interdisciplinary European projects, and lobbying for the South West of England on behalf of the South West Regional Development Agency.

I joined the University of Plymouth in 2011 and held various roles there, among them as a research advisor, funding specialist, research governance and engagement manager and as a research portfolio manager for the faculties of Business, Health and the departments of Psychology and Education.

In my spare time, I serve as the vice chair of the Museum of Policing in Devon and Cornwall, a small charity dedicated to preserving the history and memories of Devon & Cornwall Police, both in an extended paper archive and a large collection of artefacts.

I also am a huge fan of NHL ice hockey and the Seattle Kraken, so if you see someone in an octupus outfit on campus, there's a good chance that this might be me during the play-offs!
