Expertise in the material design, synthesis, and characterizations underpinning developments of solar energy research, including photovoltaics, photothermal, photocatalytic and passive cooling. A strong inorganic chemistry background combined with materials science has enabled me to produce bespoke nano-scale designer materials for solar energy applications

  • Research and Development: Conducted research on nanostructured materials for thermal energy storage and thermo-opto characteristics, specifically in the development of ferroelectric, phase change, transparent insulating, and transparent infrared absorber materials.
  • Material Synthesis and Characterization: Utilized precisely designed nanocrystals as building blocks to create functional metal oxides and nanomaterials for photovoltaic applications. Conducted studies on the synthesis-property-performance correlation control of the nanostructure of solid-state materials in photovoltaic applications.
  • Instrumental Analysis: Proficient in utilizing instrumentation for the characterization and analysis of materials, including but not limited to X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and Raman spectroscopy.
  • Solar Cell Fabrication and Analysis: Conducted research on the development and fabrication of photovoltaic materials and cells. Studied the synthesis-property-performance correlation control of solid-state materials in photovoltaic applications.
  • Project Management: Successfully managed and executed research projects on passive cooling strategies for sustainable building development, specifically focusing on the impact of geometrical and physical parameters on air exchange and cooling effects with experimental prototypes. Additionally, managed and conducted research on the employment of photovoltaic cells for advanced building facade design, including the design, synthesis, and device fabrication of smart window materials for building-integrated photovoltaic facade and passive cooling applications.

Research projects

  • EPSRC Smart Composite Material for Advanced Building Fenestration to Enhance Energy Efficiency : This is a timely project that directly targets the UKs need to reduce building end use energy demand and heat decarbonisation through developing smart composite material for advanced facades to control the energy flow (heat gain, loss, and daylight). The main goal of this ambitious project is to develop technology based on state of art techniques to enable end-users to reduced energy consumption while balancing visual comfort with hygrometric wellbeing. The overarching aim is to implement combined theoretical modelling and an experimental approach to develop and testnew window and façade technology based on smart composite material to achieve building energy reduction goals.   • Agri-Tech Cornwall Passive Cooling Project (European Union Funded); Topic: Heat stress in dairy animals can create serious health welfare issues alongside negatively impacting on agricultural production. This project is based to remove the heat from cow sheds/barns using cutting edge technological development alongside existing and emerging collaborative industrial partners. The development of flexible graphene and graphene coatings with different nanostructures has been explored for this project.
  • EPSRC Funded Project on Advance building facade design for optimal delivery of end use energy demand. Topic: This is related to design the materials for building facade applications especially for smart window materials design, synthesis and device fabrication for the smart materials for building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) facade applications.
  • PhD Thesis Tittle: Synthesis and Characterization of Alternative Materials for Dye Sensitized Solar Cells.

Long-term Carrer Objectives:

  • Group Research: Skills developed during the professorship are transferrable and essential for successful career development and will place me in an ideal position to obtain career grants, allowing me to reach a tenure-track position and start my research group develops a pathway for technology transfer.
  • Sustainable and Quality: To assess socio-economic and environmental impacts of based research. The focus will be more on sustainable development and quality policy.
  • Collaboration: Collaborations can take many forms, including financial contributions, access to facilities and equipment, provision of equipment/materials/supplies/services, access to data and results, provision of staff/students, advice, mentoring and participation in a steering group, expertise, and networking/introductions. To collaborate with industry and policy actors to promote my research activities through circular economic governance processes in India and maybe other developing countries.
  • Enhancement of Human Resources: New course implements like nanoscience and nanotechnology, promoting more material science and its impact via organizing workshops, seminars, science shows and utilizing the platform of social media as well, like a nanoart competition: kind of microscopic image competition, quizzing, blog, etc.
  • Publication and Patent followed by Technology Transfer: Use of the technology, affordability, and institutional arrangements, and governance provide high impact to create research and development work and technology transfer for the research work and proposal.
