Bus services
Single bus fares across Devon have been capped at £3 until the end March 2026, through Government funding to help ease cost of living and encourage sustainable travel.
If you travel to and from Uni by bus regularly, buying a Stagecoach Termrider Ticket can save you money. If are not travelling on the bus every day, you can consider the Flexible tickets, that give you 5 or 10 day ticket at a discounted price. For details and other discounts and offers go to the Stagecoach website.
We subsidise the Line 4 bus to ensure it provides a frequent service Monday to Friday (up to every 12 minutes) from 5:00 am to midnight, and Sundays and Holidays at reduced time table, travelling between our campuses, St David’s railway station, City centre and Cranbrook. For a full timetable, journey planning and to track your bus, download the Stagecoach Bus app.
We’re also subsidising the UNI Night Bus service. This operates Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights during term time, running every 30 minutes from midnight until 04:00 between the city centre and student accommodation.
On Saturday nights Stagecoach also run night buses on routes between Exeter and towns across Devon including Cullompton, Dawlish, Crediton and Exmouth. Journeys cost just £3.
Trains
The 16-25 railcard is available to all full time students in higher education, and gives you a third off rail tickets. If you live in Devon or Cornwall you can also consider the Devon and Cornwall Railcard, to save 1/3 on journeys not starting before 08:45, which are wholly within Devon and Cornwall. More information on rail travel to our Exeter campuses.

Car sharing
If you have no alternative, and need to use your car, consider car sharing via the LiftShare platform from the University. This allows you to share the costs with your travel group, and if you are eligible, you can park for free on campus.
Society Hardship Fund
Are your finances preventing you from joining a club or society? The Society & Club Participation Fund can help. It can provide up to £50 for memberships to societies and clubs as well as tickets for events and activities. The fund is available to any student who isn’t able to take part because of financial barriers, and those who’ve had awards from the Hardship Fund, or comes from a widening participation background. Find out more and how to apply here.
