Grand Challenges 2022

'Reset'

The 'Reset' project has two main aims: enhancing and developing renewable energy resources and improving student engagement with a renewable energy trial. For renewable energy resources, there would be a development beside East Park, first of all creating a carbon sink by growing shade-tolerant grass before installing solar panels over the top. There would also be a push to introduce energy-generating bikes and treadmills into the university gyms. This not only generates clean electricity directly on the university campus but also acts as a constant reminder for students, increasing student engagement with the university climate aims. These two could then be united to create an Energy Trial across campus – much like the Biodiversity Trail that already exists, further boosting student engagement.
