Golf Club Alumni

One of the University’s focus sports, our Student Golf Club is renowned for nurturing some of the brightest golfing talent and is one of the largest and most highly established golf clubs in the UK. We attract golfers with international level abilities to those who have never picked up a club before and we have programmes to suit every ability. As well as boasting strong representation in individual tour events, the club have been unbeaten in recent years having repeatedly won the premiership.

We host a number of golf events throughout the year that are open to all Exeter alumni and offer a fantastic opportunity to get together with university friends or network with fellow graduates from various graduating years. We are grateful to John Gilbert (Economics, 1972) who leads on the organisation of our golf events through the Exeter University Alumni Golf Society (EUAGS).

Alumni Golf Day

The headline event in the alumni golf calendar, the Alumni Golf Day is open to all University of Exeter alumni. This event is held at Worplesdon Golf Course in Surrey and takes a four-ball format. Alumni can enter as a team or can be assigned teammates of a similar year of graduation if required. Refreshments are provided upon arrival and a three course lunch is served after the round. An auction is held after lunch, with fantastic prizes generously donated by alumni. Proceeds from this event support our student golf programme. Senior invitation Golf Day

This pairs event takes place at Denham Club, open to all Exeter alumni and supporters over 40. Players go out in 4s and the format is such that concurrent competitions can take place during the round with prizes for competition winners and nearest the pin. The day includes refreshments on arrival and a two course lunch. Please check our events listings to see if this event is running this year. 

Northcote Trophy

This annual event sees a University of Exeter alumni team compete against a team of current students for the prestigious Northcote Trophy at East Devon Golf Club.

Players meet at 1pm on Saturday for lunch with the first tee time of 2.30pm. This match is between teams of 12, with a traditional meal on the Saturday night bringing past and present students together. This competitive and fun event encourages attendees to share their experiences of student life at Exeter.
