Legal and Insurance Services can provide low cost cover for equipment being transported to and from campus.

Goods in transit

If you are sending equipment off campus by post or courier, the standard insurance provided is unlikely to cover the cost of replacing the item. The University has arranged a scheme to provide insurance (known as Goods-in-Transit cover) with Northern Marine Underwriters.

The insurance provides cover for goods and equipment whilst in transit in own vehicle, sent  by post or via a courier and is a low cost alternative to the couriers own insurance. The policy can cover single items or loads up to £100,000 in any one conveyance.

Worldwide cover is available although certain high risk countries may be excluded.

The policy excess is £250.

You can find out how much it will cost to insure goods in transit by completing the cost of insuring goods in transit form and emailing it to Insurance, Audit & Risk.
