Elaine M Goodwin is an internationally recognised artist, specialising in mosaic. Her homes and studios are in Exeter and Marrakech. She has two sons, Rama and Darius.

Her work can be seen in national and private galleries and collections throughout Europe and world-wide. Currently she is exhibiting in Luxembourg and France. She is best known for giving a contemporary and personal insight into the art of mosaic. She has travelled extensively throughout the Middle East and around the Mediterranean to study, photograph, lecture and gain inspiration from mosaics of all periods – Greco/Roman, Byzantine and contemporary. A prolific writer on all aspects of mosaic, her publications include An Encyclopedia of Mosaic, Classic Mosaic and The Figure in Mosaic, and most recently, Mosaic Today.

Her work is about light. Each mosaic uses light-reflecting materials like Venetian gold, Ravenna glass and Carrara marble.

Elaine says of her work, “For all who look – at each and every moment, light is held, captured, and let go – continually and continuously. It is a sublime engagement.”
