Clinical Academics
University academic employees who have duties for a healthcare provider within their University contract of employment will hold a substantive contract with the University and an honorary contract will be held with the healthcare provider. These are referred to as Clinical academics and recruitment is carried out jointly between the University and the healthcare provider.
For healthcare employees who carry out a significant management role (more than 2 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week) in either clinical or non clinical education or research for the University then they are referred to as Clinical Honoraries (UCEA). Their substantive contract will be held with the healthcare employer and their honorary contract is held with the University. Recruitment is carried out jointly between the University and the healthcare provider. There are a number of different types of Clinical appointments that clinical honoraries can be appointed to (see Types of honorary appointment (Clinical - Medical School only).
