Aspiring Managers Programme

The Aspiring Managers Programme offers a structured development pathway for individuals who are considering moving into their first supervisory/ people management role.

Delegates will study the follwing modules:

  • The Effective Manager: managing yourself
  • The Big Picture: organisational awareness
  • The Effective Team: managing people and resources
  • Engaging and Understanding Others
  • Career Planning anf Personal Development

It is anticipated that delegates will take around 6 months to complete the programme, although there is flexibility to work at your own pace. During this time you will have the chance to develop a broad range of knowledge, skills and experience, expected of people managers. The learning journey will encourage you to seek out real life opportunities to put skills into practice, once you have developed sufficient knowledge.

If you complete all the learning and can demonstrate your development through reflective practice, you will receive your "Aspiring Managers Certificate of Achievement". On completion, you should also feel better prepared to apply for roles with people management responsibilities.

As a result of attending this programme, you will be able to:

1. Review your own personal effectiveness and describe how this impacts on others

2. Describe and deploy a range of people management skills

3. Build up a comprehensive CPD record that demonstrates your learning and achievement as an aspiring manager

4. Feel equipped to apply for your first supervisory/team leader role

Employees who haven't yet undertaken their first peopl management role but wish to prepare themselves for developing their career in this direction.

Delegates should have expressed a clear interest and demonstrated an aptitude for taking on line management responsibilities in the future. They should also have the full agreement of their line manager, who will be required to support and allow time for on-the-job learning activites.

The programme launched in June 2019, however the structure of the learning allows us to offer rolling starts throughout the year.

Predominantly online and on-the-job learning activities, with support from a Learnng and Development manager.
