Course Overview: The aim of this course is to share and discuss the key principles of effective data visualisation and to inspire you to start to tell much better stories with your data.

Learning outcomes:

As a result of attending this course, you will be able to:.

- Explain some key psychological ideas which help us to present data effectively.

- Utilise the fundamental principles of good data visualisation.

- Create tables of data which communicate your story effectively.

- Select the right type of graph for presenting your data.

- Create graphs which communicate your story effectively.

Audience:

This workshop is aimed at anyone whose role involves presenting data through any reporting platform.

Pre-work Requisites:

No preparation is required before this course.

However, if you have a particular data visualisation example or challenge that you are happy to share with the group then please feel free to contact Dan Isaac (D.J.Isaac@exeter.ac.uk) prior to the event.

Resources:

Laptops will be useful for one of the exercises on the day.

They are not essential as printed copies of materials can also be provided if required.

After the session you will be sent a handout containing key slides from the course's presentation.
