About this course:

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 places requirements on all employees to "take reasonable care for their own and others safety", all staff have a responsibility for fire safety in the workplace.

The 'Bespoke' course is designed to be tailored to the individual fire procedures at your place of work, it develops the knowledge gained from induction fire safety training and introduces additional specific requirements that are in place at your place of work /building.

This may be due to design and use of the building and is available for 'one off' events that introduce additional fire safety requirements.

This course is arranged through contacting your Person in Charge (Fire Safety) (PiC) or directly with the Fire Safety Team.

Courses are tailored for teams working in areas of additional fire hazard such as commercial kitchens, laboratories, large complex buildings, workshops and for other events such as graduation days.

Please discuss your requirements with your PiC or the Fire Safety Team.

The objective of the course is to familiarise staff with the fire routines and procedures specific to their place of work, to recognise fire hazards and to provide them with the practical knowledge required to respond to fire alarms and assist in building evacuation, it may include the practical application of fire safety equipment.

Learning outcomes:

By the end of the session you will be able to:.

- Describe the fire procedures specific to your place of work.

- Identify and communicate the design, layout and evacuation routes within your building.

- Consider additional fire hazards in your place of work and how to manage the risk.

- Explain the University fire response roles / procedures.

- Describe your responsibilities in a fire event / alarm situation.

Who should attend this course:

Employees of University of Exeter (including volunteers and other people working in UoE premises)

Presenter(s):

A suitably trained member of the Fire Safety Team.

Before the course:

Please take some time to consider your current level of fire safety knowledge and what you would do in the event of a fire alarm / event occurring.
