About this course:

Mentoring techniques and skills can be used througout today's work environment, as a pure mentor/mentee relationship or as a tool within other roles.

This session explores the role of a mentor, the use of mentoring skills, the impact of the mentor on the mentor/mentee relationship and the skills, behaviours and techniques that make a mentoring relationship successful.

This is an instructor led session with some light delegate activities and reflection throughout.

Learning outcomes:

As a result of attending this course, you will be able to:.

- Describe the role of a mentor and how it differs from a coach or manager.

- Consider positive ways of working and create appropriate boundaries.

- Reflect on our own behaviours in relation to creating effective mentor/mentee relationships.

- Analyse the key skills of listening, questioning and reflection.

Audience:

This session is open to all staff.

It is suitable for first time mentors, those with more experience who would like to refresh or enhance their skills and those who are interested in how mentoring skills might aid other roles.
