Joanna Chamberlain

Director of Sustainability 

Jo joined the University in October 2022 as Director of Sustainability where she provides strategic direction to the University on sustainability matters. She is responsible for developing and implementing long-term strategies, policies and plans to meet its ambitious carbon net zero and environmental net gain commitments and improve its sustainability. 

Jo reports to the Chief Financial Officer and Executive Divisional Director of Finance, Infrastructure and Commercial Services, and is a member of the Climate and Environmental Crisis Board and FICS Senior Management Team.  

Tim Dennett

Sustainability Manager (Data and Analysis)

Tim provides expert advice to ensure that the University’s sustainability reporting follows appropriate standards and is aligned with current and emerging good practice.  

Responsible for the development and implementation of technical assessments and the effective analysis and reporting of data to inform both internal and external stakeholders and support decision making at university, faculty, department and project level. 

Tim is also involved on a range of sustainability projects and initiatives to support the delivery of the commitments in the University’s Environment and Climate Emergency Policy Statement.    

Nicola Corrigan

Head of Sustainability Programmes

Responsible for the development and delivery of programmes, projects and policies to improve the University’s sustainability and meet its ambitious carbon reduction and environmental net-gain commitments.  

Nicola champions and promotes the benefits of a low-carbon and sustainable culture across the University.  

Managing the Sustainability Programmes team to successfully identify, implement, monitor and review strategies, policies and projects to meet the University’s sustainability commitments. 

As part of the Sustainability Senior Management Team, Nicola holds a strategic role in the delivery of the University’s Environment and Climate Emergency Policy Statement. 

Giovanni Currado

Sustainability Manager (Travel and Transport)

Giovanni provides expert advice to develop and deliver an effective Sustainable Transport Strategy. Working with internal and external stakeholders to identify, develop and deliver a range of policies and projects to contribute to achieving the commitments set out in this strategy.

Responsible for embedding climate conscious travel principles across all aspects of university operations and delivering a reduction in carbon emissions associated with travel, Giovanni also works on broader sustainability projects and initiatives to support the delivery of the commitments in the University’s Environment and Climate Emergency Policy Statement.  

Tanya Dale

Project Manager

Tanya is responsible for the delivery of projects, in addition to supporting wider programme activity.

Tanya’s work involves managing all aspects of projects, including change management activities, engagement across all colleges and campuses as well as within multiple Professional Service directorates.  

Daniela Farina

LEAF Project Manager

Implements the Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework (LEAF) at the University of Exeter, to support more sustainable and cost-effective laboratory research and management. 

Chris Guggiari-Peel

Data Analyst

Chris assists the Sustainability Reporting Manager with identifying, collecting and analysing sustainability datasets, including scope 1, 2 and relating to scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions, along with other environmental metrics including water consumption and biodiversity.  Managing and utilising complex environmental data software and the development of data visualisation and reporting tools to meet the needs of key stakeholders throughout the university and beyond.  

Lianne Moore

Sustainability Manager

Lianne provides expert advice to senior colleagues across the University on matters relating to sustainability. Generating strategic options and practical implementation plans, working with internal and external stakeholders to identify, develop and deliver a range of policies and projects to support the delivery of the commitments in the University’s Environment and Climate Emergency Policy Statement.    
 
Lianne is responsible for several programmes of work, including environmental management system, communication and engagement and benchmarking.  

Nigel Morris

Sustainability Manager (Circular Economy)

Nigel provides expert advice to develop and deliver an effective Sustainable Resource Management/Circular Economy Strategy. Working with internal and external stakeholders to identify, develop and deliver a range of policies and projects to contribute to achieving the commitments set out in this strategy.  

Nigel is also involved in working on broader sustainability projects and initiatives to support the delivery of the commitments in the University’s Environment and Climate Emergency Policy Statement.   

Vic Patch

Communications and Engagement Lead

Vic provides expert advice to develop and deliver our Communications & Engagement Strategy. Working with internal and external stakeholders to identify, develop and deliver a range of projects and activities to contribute to achieving the commitments set out in this strategy. 
 
Responsible for development and delivery of our communication channels and engagement activities for students, staff and other stakeholders. 

Hannah Pritchard

Sustainability Student Projects Coordinator

Hannah holds responsibility for sourcing, supporting, and monitoring the impact of on campus projects designed to deliver sustainability benefits across university activity. These projects are delivered by students, typically through the Green Consultants programme.  

Hannah works closely with colleagues in Student Employability and Academic Success to maintain consistency in programme delivery and continuously improving the scheme offerings to students. 

Andy Seaman

Head of Carbon and Energy

Andy is responsible for the development and delivery of programmes, projects and policies that make a major contribution to achieving the University’s net zero target, championing and promoting the benefits of a low-carbon culture across the University, leading on work relating to reducing scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions. 
 
Andy manages the Carbon and Energy Team to identify, implement, monitor and review strategies, policies and projects to reduce the University’s carbon emissions and utility consumption.  
 
As part of the Sustainability Senior Management Team, Andy has a strategic role in the delivery of the University’s Environment and Climate Emergency Policy Statement.

Ros Shaw

Sustainability Manager (Biodiversity)

Ros provides expert advice on biodiversity monitoring, measurement, protection, enhancement and recovery.  Responsible for the development and delivery of strategy, plans, policies and processes to ensure the University delivers on its environmental net gain commitment in Strategy 2030 and meets the commitments made under its Nature Positive Universities Pledge.  

Ros also works on a range of sustainability projects and initiatives to support the delivery of the commitments in the University’s Environment and Climate Emergency Policy Statement.   

Melissa Summerfield

Sustainability Reporting Manager

Managing the University’s Environmental Data service, Melissa is our lead expert in the provision and submission of University wide environmental data, information and summary reports to both internal and external stakeholders (including HESA, interested parties, various UK and EU legislation).

Providing data is key to the development of University wide strategies (including Strategy 2030, Carbon Net Zero, Infrastructure Decarbonisation Masterplan and Scope 3 Decarbonisation Plan) and tracking carbon reduction from nature-based solutions.  

Responsible for identifying and deploying environmental data improvement strategies and procedures, tracking targets against baseline, improving and influencing industry best practice in support of continual and technical improvements in carbon accounting. 

Emma Tranter

Senior Administrator

Emma provides high level administration, programme and organisational support across the team.  Working with senior stakeholders and assisting in management of priorities, workload and programme delivery, whilst contributing to a range of key projects and activities.

Beth Lewis

Sustainable Education Project Manager GBP

Beth is responsible for the management of programmes delivering key aspects of the University’s sustainable education action plan and targets. The first project, Responsible Futures, is a whole institution change programme and accreditation mark for Universities and Students Unions to embed sustainability across all aspects of student engagement and learning. Beth also manages the Curriculum Mapping programme, understanding teaching and learning approaches to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). She also develops climate literacy material for students and staff, and professional development tools for staff teaching about sustainability.

She works closely with students, staff, the Academic Climate Taskforce, and Education Thematic Forum to deliver these initiatives.

Amy Harvey

Sustainable Buildings Manager

Amy champions, encourages and facilitates the inclusion of sustainability issues and climate resilience in the University’s construction and refurbishment activities. Leading on the development of appropriate strategies, policies and processes, and proactively collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure that projects and works achieve the highest levels of sustainability and deliver buildings that are resilient against climate change.

Maiken Hutchings

Sustainability Officer

Maiken assists in the achievement of the University’s sustainability commitment through the development and delivery of sustainability projects and initiatives.   

Michelle Ogosi

Deputy Energy Manager

Michelle is responsible for planning and monitoring the University’s energy consumption and utility expenditure. She assists the Head of Carbon and Energy in the development and delivery of programmes, projects and policies that make a major contribution to achieving the University’s net zero target.
