A regional based approach for whole catchment management

The primary aim of this project is to develop an on-line user interface allowing partners to record data and complete simple spatial analysis. The GIS-based tool will be regularly updateable and provide a dynamic way to record and visualise delivery of catchment management activities that are delivered in the south west with the aim of improving water quality (and quantity), including measures delivered through Upstream Thinking (UST) and other grant support schemes such as the new Environmental Stewardship and Environmental Land Management schemes.

The tool will primarily be used to collate, organise and process data and information on catchment measures (what, when, where and cost of interventions); this will allow the characterisation and evaluation of change happening due to interventions. The tool will also be able to be used as a decision support tool, providing partners with information and guidance on where, and what type of catchment interventions could be placed to maximise the benefits to water quality, water quantity and biodiversity.
