Career

Prior to joining the University of Exeter, I worked as a professional writer and editor. I have written for a variety of purposes including publishing two books and working on scripts for interactive exhibitions at the Science Museum and the National Maritime Museum (Greenwich).

I joined the University of Exeter in 2018. Within IIB I was responsible for the project Widening Participation through Skills, part-funded by the European Social Fund. In this role I developed outreach activities for adults in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, showcasing the research and education taking place at the University of Exeter through expert lectures and courses, with a strong focus on environmental science. I ran an Environment Day at the Environment & Sustainability Institute, Penryn Campus and launched a new short free accredited course An Introduction to Renewable Energy.

In 2020 I was seconded to participate in preparations for REF 2021 and supported a  portfolio of impact case studies.

Within IIB, I participated in a number of ESIF and non-ESIF projects including Marine-i, Future Focus (Circular Textiles), Heat Pump Home Decarbonisation and am currently on secondment from the project ARCA.

Within Research Services, I supported discussions on impact pipelines and mapped established and emerging research impact as Interim Impact Evidence and Evaluation Manager, before moving to my current role.
