6 Academic Requirements
  Students who are registered on programmes leading to awards of the University shall be required to be in attendance during academic terms, to be present at classes and other assigned academic activities including examinations, to submit work when required, and otherwise to fulfil the academic requirements of their programmes as stipulated by the academic unit concerned. 'Attendance' encompasses the activity of being present, whether on campus or online (where online is offered as a valid mode of attendance), at scheduled synchronous teaching, learning and other activities and actively engaging with them as required by the module and/or programme. A student who fails to satisfy these attendance and engagement requirements or to make adequate academic progress may be referred to the Dean of Taught Students or Dean of Postgraduate Research acting on behalf of the Education Board and Postgraduate Research Board.  The Board shall be empowered to recommend to Senate, where appropriate, that the student be required to repeat a part or all of the course of study or be required to withdraw. International Student Visa holders studying under a Certificate of Sponsorship, are limited to study for the maximum period of years as determined by the UK Visas and Immigration regulations.
