Student-Led Anti-Racism Projects and Gender Safety Projects 2021/22

The Education Incubator in collaboration with the Provost’s Office, funds student-led projects that focus on either anti-racism and inclusivity or gender safety. 

Our recent project funding call is now closed for the academic year 21/22. However, do keep a look out for any future funding calls from this collaboration.

Information on the Student-led project funding

The Student-led anti-racism and inclusivity, and gender safety project fund, looks to support students who want to deliver projects that focus on either anti-Racism and inclusivity, or gender safety within the student journey and make the University of Exeter anti-racist and gender safe. 

Applicants can bid for up to £5,000 to run a project.  

Projects should be innovative and build on the equality, diversity, and inclusion activities delivered across the whole of the University. Information on this work can be read here: https://www.exeter.ac.uk/departments/inclusion/groups/provostcommission/responses/gensafefeb2022/ 

What this fund looks for?  

To be successful the project will have: 

  • Identified a clear challenge or problem affecting students that can be addressed 

  • Developed a clear plan for how the project will contribute to solving this challenge or problem 

What project teams receive? 

  • Project funding to pay for nominated team’s time to deliver the project and any identified costs to deliver activities within the project plan 

  • Support and structured approach to developing project plan and solution from the Education Incubator team 

  • Access to institutional knowledge to make change through supportive networks 

  • Support available to explore sustainable funding streams 

Selection Criteria 

The fund has a selection criteria that a panel review will use to judge an application. This information will should be used to help support a written project bid for application. 

  1.  Project focuses on Anti-Racism and Inclusivity or Gender Safety within the student journey  

  1.  Project is student-centric in nature and driven by a need identified by students. 

  1.  Project is collaborative in nature. 

  1.  Application thoughtfully considers assumptions of their project?  

  1.  Application thoughtfully considers how they are defining success for their project?  

  1.  Application thoughtfully considers possible ethical implications of their project?
