A potential data breach was reported to the University on the evening of Thursday 21 March.

We launched an immediate investigation and took swift action to secure and protect the data concerned. Following our thorough investigation, we are satisfied the data was not accessed from outside the University at any time.

A small number of individuals who had accessed the data concerned have been spoken to and the University has ensured that all the required steps have been taken to ensure the data cannot be accessed any longer.

The University of Exeter continues to take its responsibilities regarding data protection extremely seriously.
