Research culture
Egenis is renowned for its lively interdisciplinary research culture. It brings together academic staff and students from a wide range of fields, including anthropology, history, philosophy, sociology, and science and technology studies, as well as researchers from different areas of the life sciences.
Based in Byrne House, a Victorian house located in beautiful grounds on the University of Exeter’s Steatham Campus, Egenis is home to regular research events, including weekly seminars, international conferences and workshops, special interest groups, and a thriving international visitor programme.
Egenis has strong links with the wider community, and its members have held key roles in many international societies, including the Philosophy of Science Association, the British Society for the Philosophy of Science, the European Philosophy of Science Association, the International Society for the History, Philosophy and Social Studies of Biology, the Society for the Philosophy of Science in Practice, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
