Egenis conducts a wide range of innovative, interdisciplinary research projects, often in cooperation with external partners. Our research is characterised by the quality of its scholarship, the variety of its outputs, and its far-reaching impact. Our work is organised into four key research strands:

Egenis is recognised world-wide for its pioneering interdisciplinary research into the nature of the life sciences and their ethical, social, political and philosophical implications. Our key strength lies in studying scientific and medical practices using in-depth analytical tools drawn from philosophy and the social sciences.

Since its founding in 2003, Egenis has pioneered new approaches to the understanding of genomics, stem cell science, symbiosis, model organisms, data-intensive research, systems biology, synthetic biology, heredity and microbiology. Books, articles and reports by Egenis members have been highly influential, shaping the future direction of their fields.
