About the Centre

The Centre for Graphene Science was set up in 2008, funded by strategic investments by the Universities of Exeter and Bath into materials research, and by a £5million award from the EPSRC/HEFCE Science and Innovation Awards Scheme 2008.

The Centre became the hub of an international network of leading institutions researching graphene and created a vibrant research environment. It brought together more than 50 academic and research staff and stimulated an overwhelming number of scientific discoveries, publishing over 430 peer-reviewed articles between 2009 and 2014.

Graphene research at Exeter continues to excel, with the creation of GraphExeter by Dr Monica Craciun and Dr Saverio Russo opening new commercial and research opportunities.
