Have you tried the Ai Career Tools on My Career Zone? They can help with personalised suggestions.

The Career Zone has created your new career development platform - My Career Zone - which is part of our menu of services for students and graduates. My Career Zone (MCZ) allows students and graduates to discover employers and opportunities, submit applications, engage with the Career Zone, and attend career fairs and other events.

MCZ Essentials

My Career Zone is your new one-stop shop for appointments, events, job opportunities and more. We’re excited for you to familiarise yourself with the platform and read all about how it works. We are bringing the system online throughout early 2026 and so more elements will be developed and added as time goes on. In the short term, you'll still have access to Handshake for certain features that have not yet moved across.

When you first sign in you will be prompted to add information to your profile. You can skip most screens and come back to this later if you wish.

Current Students

If you are currently enrolled on an eligible course at the University of Exeter, sign in using the Student Sign In option using your @exeter email address.

Prospective Students

If you are about to start studies at Exeter, your account will be set up by a feed from the Student Record System (SRS) once your programme status is enrolled. If you sign up before your programme status is enrolled, you may not have access. Once you are fully enrolled, your account should be available.

Alumni

When you graduate, your account will be automatically converted to a graduate account. You will be able to access your account with your @exeter email for as long as you have access to this email address. We recommend you add a personal email address to ensure continued access when your @exeter email expires.

You can choose the settings for your account, including opt-out options within My Career Zone.

Please visit our Policies page for full details. The page will include links to all privacy statements and links. https://www.exeter.ac.uk/students/careers/about/policies/

MyCareerZone is supplied by a third party, GTI Recruitment, under the name TargetConnect. Their privacy policy can be found here:

https://www.groupgti.com/privacy/targetconnect

Once you have signed in there should be a top menu and four 'tiles' to help you navigate. The tiles cover:

  • Appointments
  • Events
  • Jobs
  • Career Learning

Top right of screen will be a resources icon where you can link directly to other careers resources that the Career Zone has licensed for you to use.

Finally, there are some Ai tools to help you with career discovery, CV development, and interview support.

MCZ Top Tips

You can search vacancies from the drop-down menu, from the small 'vacancies' icon or you can visit our 'Jobs' tile for more information.

  • You can search for events in a couple of ways on the home page - your events icon and the 'events' tile
  • You can book events by visiting the events and booking or by going to 'book' in the top menu and selecting 'events'
  • You can find events you have registered for under 'my bookings' by clicking on the 'me' icon at the top of the page

If you have booked a 1:1 appointment, this could be in person or via Teams.

If in -person the location will be confirmed at the point of booking and via email notification.

If via Teams - a dedicated Teams link will be created and the member of staff will start the meeting at the correct time.

You can add an alternative (personal) email address to your account via your profile

We recommend adding this before your course finishes to ensure you have seamless access to My Career Zone once you lose access to your @exeter email.

Troubleshooting

  • Firstly check your notification preferences to see they have not been blocked.
  • If your preferences look to be set ok, it might be that you unsubscribed from emails.

If you are have an @exeter email and have an account you should be able to login using the 'Student Sign in' option. If you have any issues with your @exeter email account please contact Exeter IT
