Accommodation

Penryn Campus, Cornwall

University owned or managed accommodation is guaranteed for all inbound exchange students studying at the Penryn Campus for the full academic year who apply before 31st July.  Students are housed in single rooms (in shared flats), usually in Glasney Student Village.

For students studying for one semester there are a limited number of rooms available.

Exeter Campuses (Streatham and St Luke's)

Exeter is a compact, safe and student-friendly city. The majority of University students live in or close to the city centre, either in purpose built, privately owned student accommodation or in shared housing.

University owned or managed accommodation is guaranteed to inbound exchange students studying for the full academic year, starting in September, who apply before 31st July.

Please note: Students who are allocated university-owned accommodation may be located with first-year students.

The University is unable to guarantee accommodation for single semester students. The majority of students will find accommodation in the private sector.

Advice for finding private accommodation:

  • Look at the University webpage for private housing options
  • Check out the Short Term Accommodation leaflet
  • Join our discord server, where you can connect with other inbound students and with current Exeter students wishing to rent their room for a single semester.
  • Join Facebook groups in Exeter where students advertise rooms available. For example ‘Overheard at the University of Exeter’.

Single semester students can apply for university accommodation in James Owen Court, there are a limited number of rooms available which are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Once you have successfully submitted your application to study at Exeter and it has been processed, you will receive an email with further details on how to apply.

If you are living in University Accommodation you will be supported by the Residence Life team.

If you are living in private accommodation you will be supported by the Community Engagement Officers.

If you receive an error message stating: ‘You must have a FIRM OFFER with the University of Exeter’ and cannot apply for your accommodation, this is because your application has not been processed. You will be able to apply once you have received your acceptance email.
