Research at our Cornwall Campuses
Research on our Cornwall campuses encompasses a diverse range of themes; from renewable energy, conservation and construction to healthcare, culture and government.
We have a wide range of first class facilities, including the Environment and Sustainability Institute and Science and Engineering Research Support Facility at our Penryn Campus, and The European Centre for Environment and Human Health based at the Knowledge Spa at the Royal Cornwall Hospital on Truro Campus.
Our researchers collaborate with local businesses, as well as leading international institutions, to address global and local issues in science, medicine and society.
We are ranked 35th in the world and 6th in the UK in the 2016 Leiden University Rankings, and the latest Research Excellence Framework (REF 2014) recognised 98% of our research as being of international quality.
We have an international reputation as Cornwall’s pre-eminent research institute, and our academics bring more than £16m of research income into Cornwall every year – money we use to create three additional jobs for every academic member of staff.
Our researchers have received awards from prestigious institutions such as the Zoological Society of London, EMBO, The British Ecological Society and the Royal Society.
Their research has been published in international scientific journals Nature, PNAS (Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences), and PLOS (Public Library of Science), and attracted attention from national and international media.
