BA Politics and International Studies, Penryn 2016

What did you enjoy about your degree programme?

The lecturers were great! There was an open door policy and everybody was very supportive. Every single lecturer knew every single student by name and took the time to understand their areas of interest.
Additionally, even though I did quite an unusual dissertation in political psychology, the lecturers were very supportive in helping to facilitate such a complicated project.

Tell us about the award you have received. What does this award mean to you?

Goldsmith Prize - Significant Contribution to Departmental Life (Penryn). I have been nominated for this award by lecturers and staff who have been incredibly supportive and helpful throughout the duration of my degree. I am extremely grateful for all of their help and I have tried to demonstrate this by putting extra effort back into the department. This award is therefore particularly important to me, as it is represents an acknowledgement of this.

What has been the highlight of your time at Exeter?

Organising the Raise and Donate Society's 'Lost' for Meningitis Research Foundation UK. We dropped willing volunteer Exeter and Falmouth University students into the middle of nowhere and set them a series of challenges whilst they made their way back to Campus. It was good to have so much fun raising money for such a worthwhile cause!

What will you miss the most about university?

Studying at such a beautiful and unique campus. Living in a holiday location like Falmouth, with sun, fresh air and the relaxed way of life, was the perfect counterbalance at the end of a long day in the library!

What advice would you give to current and future students?

Join all of the societies you can and involve yourself in university life as much as possible - you only get to do it once!

What are your plans now that you have graduated?

I have a couple of job offers, so I know that work will play a key part in those plans. I am hoping that politics, political psychology and debating will all be useful in a career in sales!
