BA Sociology and Anthropology (2018)

What did you enjoy about your degree programme?

I really enjoyed the variety of modules available. Doing Anthropology and Sociology meant that there were so many to choose from. I found all of my lecturers and tutorial leaders to be engaging and they helped to make the course even more interesting.  It’s given me a new world-view on a number of topics I wouldn’t necessarily have considered.

Tell us about the award you have received. What does this award mean to you?

The Anthropology prize for Best Academic Performance Final Year Anthropology Student.

Winning the award means a lot to me and it was a real surprise! It’s given me a great sense of achievement, and a confidence in myself and my abilities.

What has been the highlight of your time at Exeter?

I really can’t pick one highlight of the three years I’ve spent in Exeter, there have been so many! Actually finishing my degree was a real achievement, and handing in my dissertation was such a rewarding feeling.

What will you miss the most about University?

I’ll miss the people and atmosphere the most. I’ve made friends for life here and had the best time getting the ‘student’ experience. Exeter is such a fun and friendly place and a beautiful city.

What advice would you give to current and future students?

To make the most of your time at Exeter because before you know it will be over! I think it’s important to get a good balance of working hard and having fun. Pick modules you think you’ll really enjoy, and make the most of having lecturer’s office hours when they offer them.

What are your plans now that you have graduated?

Taking the summer off and hope to do some travelling before facing the real world and applying for jobs in London!
