A Humanist is someone whose knowledge is based on reason and evidence, who lives an ethical life based on empathy and compassion, and who strives to build a kinder, fairer and more reasonable society.

"Humanism in a nutshell"

  1. Putting human beings and other living things at the centre of your moral outlook.
  2. Seeing the world as a natural place, and looking to science and reason to make sense of it.
  3. Promoting and supporting human flourishing across all frontiers, and championing human rights for everyone.

Humanist and Progressive Fellowship

The Humanist and Progressive Fellowship is the main activity of the new Humanist Chaplaincy.

The Fellowship offers non-religious people, Humanists, and those of progressive faith, opportunities to explore their spirituality, get to know like-minded people and discuss a variety of ethical, cultural and philosophical subjects.

Other activities such as walks, reflective practices, workshops/talks by guest speakers and the occasional evening event are also in the planning.

The group welcomes staff, associate staff and postgraduates. We currently meet fortnightly on Zoom on Fridays 11:30-12:30. You are welcome to join us every fortnight or as and when you can attend.

To join the email list and hear about our meetings and events, or for details of how to access the Humanist and Progressive Fellowship meeting on Zoom, please email Anastasia, the Humanist Chaplain.
