Leadership, Development and Support

The current priorities for 2023/24 are:

The Exeter Academic review took place in 2022/23 with the aim of reviewing the current academic careers structure to create a new framework that is light touch, clear and flexible. The review resulted in 12 recommendations gaining approval, which are being implemented from 2023/24 onwards.

A review into the current Exeter Professional offer took place in 2022/23, focusing on the career and progression pathways for professional services colleagues, including how those are enabled by learning and development.  A set of recommendations have now been approved, implementation will commence from January 2024.

An exciting new programme is under development which aims to increase the pipeline of diversity and inclusion at leadership level here at Exeter. The programme will be launched and the first cohort initiated during 2023/24.

The roll out of next cohorts of our award-winning Leadership Difference programme is underway for 2023/24.

A review into the PDR, focusing on reviewing the process in place across the institution for both academic and professional services colleagues, took place in 2022/23. The review is now complete and seeking approval of its recommendations. Implementation is planned for 2023/24.

Our second cohort of 100BWPN launches in January 2024, offering a group of Black women academics the opportunity to benefit from mentorship, career coaching, action learning and peer group coaching, networking, master classes, campaign and profile-raising opportunities.
