To Environmental Intelligence and Beyond

To Environmental Intelligence and Beyond! (EIB24)

The University of Exeter, 17th-20th  June 2024

A free four-day event that will provide vital skills, experience and networking opportunities to accelerate the impact of your research.

The purpose of postgraduate research is to generate new knowledge. Environmental intelligence is the production of new knowledge that has relevance to the climate and ecological crisis. During EIB24, skills and technical workshops will be run in conjunction with sessions that will focus on real-world sustainability challenges. EIB24 will be delivered in partnership with internal and external organisations including UpliftOpen Planet and Carnegie Europe who will set environment and sustainability challenges tied to their core missions.

Interdisciplinary teams will develop solutions, following principles of design thinking to achieve effective outcomes. Outputs might be tools, apps, data insights, literature reviews, or policy recommendations. While the event is hosted by the UKRI AI CDT in Environmental Intelligence, with a focus on data/AI, there is room for many disciplinary backgrounds and approaches to problem-solving.

Attendees will work intensively in teams on their solutions, but will also share social events, creativity and team spirit. We are seeking passionate people (students, researchers, professionals) with skills and interests in the environment, data science, and responsible innovation, to take part and collaborate with us and our partners. This is a free event organised by the UKRI CDT in Environmental Intelligence and will include lunch and refreshments each day, social events, and dedicated event and collaboration space.
