Post-excavation Workshops

Each year our archaeological excavation at Ipplepen recovers hundreds of artefacts and bags of environmental samples, all of which require additional work once the excavation is over.

Our meticulous recording during the excavation results in page after page of written records, and registers of photographs, samples and finds, all of which need to be manually transferred to digital form.

If you would like to be involved with this essential part of the archaeological process then please come and help at one of our Post-Excavation Workshops.

These will be held in the Ipplepen Community Hub at Ipplepen Methodist Church, between 10:30am and 3:30pm on the following days:

Tuesday 5th November 2019

Tuesday 19th November 2019

Tuesday 14th January 2020

Tuesday 28th January 2020

Tuesday 11th February 2020

Tuesday 25th February 2020

No prior involvement with the excavation is necessary, though we welcome participants who also volunteered at the dig. You may attend as many or as few of the sessions as you wish, although pre-booking is essential and places are allocated on a first-come first-served basis. To register your interest please email Chris Smart (c.j.smart@exeter.ac.uk), or telephone 01392 263709.
