Emine Dogan Mia: Muslim Chaplain

Es-salamu aleykum,

As a Muslim Chaplain and a research student in International Law, I really enjoy bringing together learning, care and everyday life. Being a mother to my son is a big part of who I am and shapes how I connect with others, both in my research and in my chaplaincy work. When I am not studying or supporting my community, I love spending my time with a good book, knitting, cooking (especially for others) and going for long walks in nature. I really enjoy setting up large dinner tables and hosting large groups, especially during Ramadan and Eid. These simple pleasures keep me grounded and bring warmth and balance to my faith, my work, and my home.

I have recently joined the Chaplaincy and am looking forward to working with the students and staff, whether as a point of connection or support for people of our Muslim faith or whatever you are, or in my capacity as a pastoral Chaplain, offering a listening ear and support to all students and staff of the university.

You may contact me by e-mail at E.Dogan@exeter.ac.uk or you will usually find me as Duty Chaplain on Thursdays from 10am to 2pm at the Sarah Turvill Multifaith Centre. Feel free to approach me if you would like a chat or even just to say ‘Es-selamu alaykum’ or 'hi'.
