Exeter Scholars

Biomedical, Human and Behavioural Sciences (St Luke's & Streatham campuses, Exeter)

If you’re fascinated by the human body, the brain, and what shapes our health and behaviour, this subject strand offers an exciting introduction to subjects such as Biomedical Sciences, Neuroscience, Psychology, and Sport and Health Sciences. You’ll explore how the body works, how the brain influences behaviour, and how research can help us understand and improve human health and wellbeing.

Across the strand, you’ll have the opportunity to explore a range of topics and approaches through subject tasters and practical activities. In Biomedical Sciences, you may investigate the science behind health and disease, while Neuroscience explores the biological processes that underpin the brain and nervous system. Psychology will introduce you to the study of human behaviour and cognition, while Sport and Health Sciences explores the science of exercise, performance and health. Together, these subjects demonstrate how different areas of science can work together to understand the human body and mind.

By studying across these interconnected areas, you will develop your scientific knowledge, critical thinking, practical and research skills, while gaining an insight into the diverse degree and career opportunities available in health, science, research and beyond. Whether you’re interested in understanding disease, exploring the brain and behaviour, or discovering how exercise and health are connected, this strand will give you the opportunity to explore where your interests could take you.
