Student support services
Student Support Services is based on the first floor of the Tremough House Annexe on the Penryn Campus. We can help with any information advice or support needs, however large or small. All our services are confidential and student-centred, and no information will be passed between the services, or anywhere else, without your permission.
If you're unsure about anything, or need answers on a whole range of issues - learning, housing, health and wellbeing, money matters or planning your future - head to The Compass on Level 0 in The Exchange. You'll find a friendly, knowledgeable team who can advise you on all these areas or, if necessary, refer you to the right team for more in-depth advice.
University of Exeter students can also access Student Support Services at the Falmouth Campus in Woodlane, Falmouth. Our receptionist can provide general information, including Access to Learning Fund application forms, and directing you to other Penryn Campus services, as well as booking appointments for support services.
Please note there is a lift in the Annexe for disabled access.
Our opening hours are 9.00am-5.00pm weekdays, during term time. There's a more limited service during vacations, for information about which see the link below, or to the left. You can drop in, or telephone 01326 370460. Student Support Services also offers late opening at the Penryn Campus on Wednesdays from 5pm-7pm during term-time.
The Penryn Campus has all the services needed to ensure student life runs smoothly:
- Accessibility service
The Accessibility service staff have a wealth of experience in helping students with visual, hearing or mobility impairments, providing dyslexia and dyspraxia support, and more
- ASK: academic skills
A team of advisors and lecturers who provide academic support for students studying at the Penryn Campus, on a one-to-one and group basis
- Career Zone
A dedicated service providing high quality careers information and guidance to students of all disciplines
Our Chaplain can link you to like-minded people, whether you belong to a faith group, want to talk about everyday issues or explore your own spirituality
The Woodlane Nursery in Falmouth provides students and staff with high quality childcare and education for children
- Counselling service
The Campus counsellors' confidential support is freely available to students on the Penryn Campus
- Students' Union (FXU)
FXU is a joint Students’ Union, supporting students of both the University of Exeter and Falmouth University (FXU stands for Falmouth and Exeter Union)
A team of Specialist Tutors who provide academic support for students with dyslexia at the Penryn Campus
- Falmouth Exeter Plus
FXPlus provides a range of services to both the University of Exeter and Falmouth University, including estates and facilities management, commercial activities and accommodation services
- Holiday arrangements

- International Student Support
The International Student Support Office is dedicated to advising and supporting non-UK students
- Living Support and Wellbeing
Living Support advises on a wide range of issues from academic to personal, from housing to living in the community, while Wellbeing Services help with all kinds of physical and mental health concerns
- Modern language courses
Weekly courses during term time, catering for levels from beginners to advanced
- Student health and welfare
Our students' welfare is paramount; we provide details of local doctors and dentists practices we recommend students register with during their time at university
- Student Mentor scheme
All new undergraduate students studying in Cornwall are invited to apply for a Student Mentor and returning students may apply to be a Mentor
