Peter Head CBE FREng FRSA has kindly agreed to join us for Grand Challenges 2014 to talk about Sustainable Building, in line with this year's Challenge run by Professor Steve Eichhorn. Peter is the founder of the Ecological Sequestration Trust, which is creating an open-source systems platform for GIS data assembly which is agent based for humans and ecology and has an economic value component. The objective is to connect the value to humans of ecology and investments of all kinds including renewable resources.

Peter is a civil and structural engineer who specialised in major bridges, advanced composite technology and now in sustainable development in cities and regions. He won the Award of Merit of IABSE and in 2009 the RAE Sir Frank Whittle medal. In 2008 he was named by the Guardian Newspaper as one of 50 people that could ‘save the planet’, and in the same year Time magazine cited him as one of 30 global eco-heroes.

We hope you will join us for this exciting event on Wednesday 4 June from 17:30 in the Newman Collaborative Lecture Theatre. Alumni, staff and students are welcome and no booking is required.
