About this session

This workshop follows the respective "Engaging industry" presentation and is aimed at helping you sell services to Industry. At the end you will understand what services you can offer that are attractive to industry, understand how you can price those services, and how to promote these services to industry.
Industrial engagement for Mathematicians, Physicists, Computer Scientists, Engineers and others is important for keeping us up to date with that is happening in the world outside, giving us access to new data, developing Impact Case Studies, and influencing funders. Engagement can be in the form of research projects or consultancy or delivery of training – from an industrial point of view there may be little difference between these categories. This session aims to help identify what sort of services you can offer to industry, and how to pitch those, and how such activities can be costed to return funds to your PDA. Rebecca Adams and colleagues from Innovation Impact and Business will be on hand to help with IP, contracting, costing and pricing, and marketing to industry.
Dr Steven Hepplestone is now an academic in Physics but was formerly in industry with a role in liaising with universities. He will present a view from the point of view of buying in services from universities.
