The University of Exeter Medical Schoolinvites you to the Kieran Sweeney Memorial Lecture given by

Sir Harry Burns

Chief Medical Officer, Scotland

Professor Kieran Sweeney and Sir Harry Burns were close friends from early childhood. Their respective distinguished careers in medicine both reflect a deeply compassionate and visionary approach to population health and health inequity. As founder of the Health Complexity Group, Kieran played a major role in the research which created the ‘C2 Connecting Communities’ programme which has a consistent track record of delivering transformative health and well-being outcomes in communities all over the country. This is one of Kieran’s legacies of health creation.

Sir Harry shares Kieran’s passion for such asset based approaches to tackle health inequalities and in this tribute lecture he will explain the biological links between poverty, community passivity and chronic disease.
