Peace in Turkey, Dr Tim Jacoby

After graduating in History and working as a school teacher in Turkey and Nigeria, Dr Tim Jacoby won an Economic and Social Research Council scholarship for a MA in International Conflict Analysis at the University of Kent. From 1999 to 2003, he then completed his PhD and an Economic and Social Research Council Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the Department of Politics at the University of York. He joined the Institute for Development Policy & Management at the University of Manchester in 2003 where he is now Senior Lecturer in Conflict Studies. In 2009, he helped to found the Humanitarian and Conflict Response Institute at the University of Manchester. Tim Jacobys research initially focussed on state development in Turkey, but a particular interest in issues of minority identity and politics there has led him to study broader topics related to political violence, civil society, Islam, nationalism and post-conflict reconstruction.
