Retirement: Planning for Retirement in the Next 10 Years
| Description | What is it about? Retirement is a time of change. Have you planned for this? What will you do with your time? This event will bring together information including financial, pension, wellbeing and keeping active alongside opportunities after retirement.
Who is it for? Staff who may be planning to retire within the next 10 years.
What will I get out of it? At the end of the event, you will have gained information on. - Pensions. - Investment and Tax. - University of Exeter Retired Staff Association. - Health and Wellness opportunities. - Looking after yourself.
Course overview: Information will focus on. 1) Pensions: The Pensions Manager will provide a brief resume of the scheme and its benefits, how to enhance them and what to do when retirement is imminent. 2) Investment and Tax: Investment, other pension possibilities and tax complications; Independent Financial Adviser(s) will be available to ask questions during lunch. 3) University of Exeter Retired Staff Association: events and benefits (http://groups.exeter.ac.uk/uersa/index.html); A short presentation from the University of Exeter Retired Staff Association (UERSA), formed in 2004, UERSA has proved to be a great success and now has about 400 members, details on how to join, the facilities available to retired staff and the sort of activities that UERSA organises will be included. 4) Health and Wellness opportunities for staff before and after retirement: The Sports and Wellness Officer will give a brief overview of the sports facilities available for you to use on both Streatham and St Luke's campus, Information on the range of activities offered by the Sports Office throughout the University and membership information for current staff, retired staff and for the family. 5) Looking after Yourself: Information from Occupational Health will raise your awareness in terms of looking after yourself pre-retirement and after retirement, both physically and mentally. There will also be an opportunity to network with speakers at the buffet lunch.
Additional Information: This course must have a minimum of 20 people to run.
