Finance for Programme Leaders

Description

Do you want to deliver a new programme of study? How do you make it financially viable? How do you present a case to the University or College? This course provides academic and professional services staff with the some of the key knowledge and tools necessary to make financially sound decisions about education programmes delivered in Colleges.

Who should attend: Academic Leads, Directors of Education/Research, Heads of Discipline, Heads of Section, Assistant Directors and other senior academic and Professional services staff.

Aims and Outcomes:

The objectives of this session are to.

- Help participants understand how the key items of teaching income and staff expense are represented in the Income Distribution Model.

- Be able to calculate module- and programme-level surplus (or loss) and assess the impact of incremental student numbers; understand fixed versus variable cost classification.

- Be able to use contribution and simple break-even analysis.

Participants will also be given an overview of the University's financial planning, monitoring and governance structure.
