Managing Performance (ILM Credit)
| Description | Who is it for? All staff who manage others.
What is it about? This one day programme consists of interactive workshops with 1-1 support and guided learning materials that will give you a firm foundation in the skills and understanding needed to manage the performance of your staff.
What will I get out of it? 1/ An understanding of the importance of managing performance. 2/ An understanding of SMART objectives and how to align personal objectives with those of the University. 3/ How performance can be measured against standards. 4/ An understanding of the conduct versus capability model. 5/ How to conduct performance counselling meetings. 6/ An exploration of some meaningful case studies.
Course overview: - Who are your stakeholders. - Refresher on SMART objectives and alignment of objectives with Organisational Objectives and Vision. - Performance Equation. - Performance standards and ways of measuring standards. - Variances in performance and the conduct versus capability model. - Case studies. - Performance Counselling Meetings. - 'I'd like a word with you' DVD. - Group discussion. - Reflection. - Action planning.

Do I get a qualification? If you have registered for the First Line Management Certificate, and undertake the assessments, you can achieve this qualification. Alternatively you may register for a Unit Certificate and be assessed for this one Unit.
