Procurement: How to...Manage
| Description | Who is it for? This course is for University staff who are required to manage delivery of goods, services and works and require supplier relationships to be monitored and developed.
What is it about? All procurement exercises whether these are lower value Request For Quotation?s (RFQs) or high value Invitation To Tender?s (ITT) have a defined procurement cycle which can be expressed in four pillars ? `Prepare?, `Compete?, `Contract? & `Manage?. This course introduces `Manage? and what stages need to be followed to monitor the delivery of goods, services and works and develop key supplier relationships that provide the best Value for Money outcome for the University.
What will I get out of it? By the end of this session you will be able to (with reference to your notes if necessary): ? Identify different roles within a procurement exercise ? Understand how & why managing suppliers is important and describe at least two benefits To the standards laid down by University Financial Regulations, European Union Regulations & CIPS (Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply). Course overview - Essentials & Introductions. - Recap from previous courses (Introduction to Procurement / Moodle, Prepare, Compete, Contract). - Review the 4 stages of the Procurement Cycle. - Discuss how to `manage? goods, services or works. - Debate why it is important to monitor and develop supplier relationships. - Quiz / Personal Objectives.

Do I get a qualification? No formal accreditation / qualification, there will be a certificate of attendance. If you have further interest in gaining a formal accredited procurement and supply chain qualification there are organisations available who can facilitate this see details below of our professional body. CIPS (Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Chain). http://www.cips.org/ Assessment Attendees will not be formally assessed, there will be a quiz at the end to test that the required learning has taken place. There will also be group work, interactive activities and feedback.
