Description

What is it about?

Are your learning and teaching policies, procedures and practices accessible to students with disabilities? This session will help unravel the relevant aspects of the Disability Discrimination Act and Equality Acts, and the practical implications it has on your teaching practices.

Aims and Outcomes:

What will I get out of it?

Introduce you to and help you interpret the relevant parts of the above Acts in relation to learning and teaching.

1) Discuss various accessible teaching and assessment methods.

2) Introduce the Access to Learning Project and other resources.

3) Encourage staff to reflect on and develop best practice in accessible learning and teaching for students with disabilities.

Additional Information:

Ensuring accessibility: All information will be written in plain English and printed according to the RNIBs clear print guidelines (i.e Arial, 12 point or above).

Please let the AccessAbility Office (AccessAbility@ex.ac.uk) know if you require:.

- Information in an alternative format (e.g.

in large print or on disc).

- The use of a hearing loop.

- Further adjustments in order to participate in the session.

Feel free to bring your lunch to the session.
