Submitting Online and Plagiarism Detection
| Description | Within the Exeter Learning Environment (ELE) there is now a new facility that allows students to submit their assignments electronically to administrators who can then release them to academics for on-line marking. Feedback can then be electronically returned to the students. This course takes participants through this process. The relative ease of cutting and pasting text from an increasing number of sources into academic assignments has resulted in more cases of plagiarism among students. `Turnitin? is University-supported software that allows academics and administrators to submit students? assignments into the facility to check the originality of the work and identify the source of work that may have been copied.
Aims and Outcomes: By the end of the session you should be able to: 1 Use the new e-submission facility within ELE and understand its features. 2 Mark assessments on line using a variety of methods and tools. 3 Set up Turnitin assignments within ELE. 4 Understand and interpret Turnitin originality reports on submitted work.
Additional Information: The session will concentrate on demonstrations of the items above however as this will be taught in small groups there will be opportunities for participants to get hands-on practice with the technologies.
