Practical Training Certificate (Skills Coaching)

Description

The aim of this course is to assist in the development of `on-the-job' practical skills training on a one-to-one or small group basis.

Who is it for?

Managers, Administrators, Supervisors, Team Leaders and Trainers who are responsible for on-the-job practical skills training, on a one-to-one basis or to small groups.

Aims and Outcomes:

Aims.

- Recognise situations in your own work area where learning needs to take place.

- Analyse tasks in order to plan effective on-the-job training sessions.

- Set clear standards.

- Design and carry out short pieces of on-the-job training to meet identified needs.

- Write appropriate notes to support your training.

Outcomes.

- Identify learning needs, and how people learn.

- Learning styles - what they are and what they mean to the trainer.

- Plan and structure a training session.

- Make the training participative ? through the use of questions and practical participation.

- Check the effectiveness of the training.

- Use skills for giving feedback.

- Practice sessions for delegates.

- Applying the learning back in the workplace.

Course style.

Informal and highly participative with active discussion, exchange of ideas, exercises, group work and practice sessions.

There is homework to complete in the evenings of day 1 and 2.

On day 3, delegates are formally assessed delivering a practical skills training session to 2 people, to the required standard, for the award of an In-House Practical Training Certificate.
