Andrei pulls off some impressive tricks.

Mountain bike athlete wows crowds

Top mountain biker Andrei Burton wowed crowds assembled on the University of Exeter Piazza with a death deifying bike display.

The Exeter cyclist, one of the UK’s premier mountain bike trials athletes, set up an impressive rack of scaffolding and performed some awesome tricks and manoeuvres using the equipment.

The assembled watchers gasped in awe Andrei bounced on and off the specially designed scaffolding and performed tricks at height that demonstrated precision skill and timing

Despite a wet start to the day scores of onlookers gathered to get a better look at the action which took place as part of a bike fair organised by Sustainability.

Spectators were able to browse a number of bike stalls, pick up some information from the University’s wellbeing team and visit Dr Bike for that all important bike check up.

University of Exeter Sustainability Travel Plan Coordinator Julia Jack said: “I was very pleased with the success of the event, Andrei really engaged with students and staff, it was great to see so many people enjoying themselves and recording the event on their phones and cameras.

“The Dr Bike services were kept very busy servicing bikes for staff and students who were very pleased with the free service.  The local bike stores reported that staff and students were very interested in what they had on offer, especially the second hand bikes.”
